Ultra-detailed image of the Sun's surface has been published

The 300-megapixel image shows the detailed structure of the star's surface.

An ultra-detailed image of the Sun has been published by US astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy. The image shows the detailed structure of the star's surface.

Resolution of the file is 300 megapixels. McCarthy has previously taken 150,000 images.

"I took about 150 000 images of the incredibly magnificent Sun. Collectively, these photos allowed me to see the Sun in incredible detail," the astrophotographer wrote on his Instagram page.

The images were taken in early December using a modified telescope.
