To confirm their assumptions, experts have studied the isotopic composition of the meteorite, which once was part of Mars, its composition was compared with other meteorites. It turned out that the matter of Mars and Earth is similar to meteorites formed in the inner, rather than outer, part of the solar system.

"Our planet, like Mars, was formed mainly from material that existed in the inner part of the solar system. All indications are that the Earth came into being as a result of the collision of several celestial bodies the size of the Moon," the researchers said in a statement.
