The Curiosity rover has photographed what looks like a man-made

An image captured on 7 May by the Mastcam-Z camera on board NASA's Curiosity rover has revealed a rather interesting feature in the Martian rocks, on a geological feature known as the Fronton Greenhue slope: something resembling a perfectly carved doorway, looking unusual among the Martian landscape. The image of this geological feature has the potential to inspire science fiction films about portals leading to other universes or tunnels to the centre of the planet, Science Alert writes, calling the discovery "eerie".

Nevertheless, commenters on the Reddit forum have pointed out that it is probably just a crack formed when the rock strata shifted, a broken-off part of the rock that couldn't withstand the internal stress, possibly caused by one or two Mars shocks. A major Mars shake occurred on May 4, 2022, and scientists are still working to determine exactly where it occurred and what effects it caused.

Moreover, while the rock formation that looks like a door may appear to be as big as a man or larger, it is actually possible that in real life it is only a few centimetres high - it is difficult to judge reliably from this picture.
